HALO 5 | Whole House Filtration & Conditioning
STAGE 1: Granular Activated Carbon (GAC)
NSF Certified acid-washed GAC for the general removal of chlorine, chloramines, gases, dyes, fuels, heavy metals, man-made pollutants, disinfectants, pesticides, TTHM, sodium hypochlorite, undesirable odors, undesirable taste and volatile organic contaminants.
Our NSF/ANSI Certified GAC meets or exceeds all Food Chemical Codex, AWWA, ASTM and USP Standards.
STAGE 2: Centaur® High Activity Carbon (HAC)
Centaur HAC is an outstanding material for successfully reducing free chlorine from water supplies. The end product is clean, fresh water with no objectionable taste or odor characteristics. Additionally, Centaur® HAC can be used for filtering waters having a wide range of pH levels and will impart a high “polish” to the filtered water.
Our Centaur HAC is NSF/ANSI Certified under NSF Standard 42
STAGE 3: Filter-AG Plus®
Filter-Ag Plus® is an all-natural, environmentally safe media with a large surface area and micro-porous structure. It is a highly efficient filter media for the reduction of suspended matter down to the 5 micron or less range and is thus, extremely effective at removing water turbidity.
Our Filter-Ag Plus® NSF/ANSI Certified under NSF Standard 61.
STAGE 4: High Density Garnet Filter Media
Garnet is a high hardness, high density granular filtration media that can effectively filter down to the 10-20 micron range. It also provides an excellent support bed for the other filtration media.
Our High Density Garnet meets AWWA specifications. It is also classified by Underwriters Laboratories Inc.® in accordance with ANSI/NSF Standard 61.
STAGE 5: HALO ION Inline Water Conditioner
Our patented HALO ION Inline Water Conditioner uses multi-reversing polarity permanent magnetic fields to alter the molecular structure of positively and negatively charged ions of dissolved calcium and magnesium. This causes the hard water minerals that would normally cause lime scale to stay suspended in the water instead of attacking pipes and appliances. The conditioned water also helps prevent corrosion due to scale and will dissolve existing scale over time.
With a track record of over 50 years in use, the HALO ION Inline Water Conditioner is a proven, eco-friendly hard water treatment solution.
Whole House Water Treatment Systems
Uses up to 30% less water during backwash over standard tanks. The self cleaning Vortech distributor prevents clogging. The high flow design maximizes high efficiency valves.
Premium grade, NSF-certified, acid washed carbon media is used for its high degree of micro-porosity. Just one gram of activated carbon has a surface area in excess of 5000 sq ft.
Filter-AG Plus® is an all natural media, highly efficient in the reduction suspended sediment, down to 5 microns. Quartz garnet is a hard dense media that can filter sediment down to 10-20 microns.
ABOUT CHLORINE & CONTAMINANTS
HALO filtration systems are highly effective at reducing and/or removing chlorine, chloramines, and chlorination by-products from all of your household water.
No more Chlorine Damage. No more Bad Taste & Smell. No More Bottled Water.
Disinfectants in Drinking Water
To protect drinking water from disease-causing organisms, or pathogens, water suppliers often add a disinfectant, such as chlorine, to drinking water. However, disinfection practices can be complicated because certain microbial pathogens, are highly resistant to traditional disinfection practices.
Appliances and Plumbing Fixtures
Rubber seals and gaskets in appliances and plumbing fixtures suffer from chlorine in water too. Oxidized rubber is mushy. I can’t create a good seal. Many people have experienced a leaky toilet or faucet. This is often caused by chlorine.
Research has found a direct link between chlorine and copper plumbing corrosion. Chloramines, a com-bination of chlorine + ammonia, have also been found to increase corrosion.
ABOUT HARD WATER
HALO ION conditioners solve these problems by physically treating the water in order to:
DISSOLVE SCALE – PREVENT SCALE – INHIBIT CORROSION
Hard Water Scale
Scale (hard mineral coatings) and corrosion deposits are made up of solids and sediments that collect on or in the dis-tribution system piping, storage reservoirs and household plumbing. Hard water is a designation that means the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) count in the water is very high. Hard Water build-up can result in restricted or reduced water flow, inefficiency or failure of water heaters, damage to fixtures, appliances, water using equipment and unsightly deposits throughout the house including glassware, dishes and flatware.
Hard Water Corrosion
In general, corrosion is the result of water with a low pH. Acidic waters have lots of H+ ions in the water to react with the electrons at the cathode, so corrosion is enhanced. In contrast, water with a higher pH (basic water) lowers the solubility of calcium carbonate so that the calcium carbonate is more likely to precipitate out as scale. They form directly from the corroding metal pipe wall. The scale and corrosion deposits serve as sites for adsorption or coprecipitation, as well as for mineral growth for certain contaminants, such as: arsenic, radium, and vanadium.
No More Bags of Salt
Nationally, the average water softener requires about 60 lbs. of salt per month, and softeners do not improve water quality. Additionally, self-regenerating water softeners discharge polluted water into the environment.
